You are correct that there is an artificial divisiveness being engineered and which is driving people crazy...but it is incorrect to suggest that the man behind the curtain is 'political parties'. The truth is much more horrible than that. It is the same people who were doing this in 1933, and here is a speech from a great man who was calling them out in that year:

A couple of years ago I came to the conclusion that the current level of divisiveness in America is the single most serious problem our country is facing. Just pay attention to what they say while in office or campaigning for office, and you will see. Modern information technology certainly amplifies their divisiveness and propaganda but isn't the actual source of it.
The partisan bias in the legislative branch is so divisive that congress can't possibly make the rational compromises that the majority of citizens would actually want. Our lawmakers/representatives are dividing us rather than uniting us in civil, effective, discussions. And...
...that's our fault! We are the ones that elected them!
