Yeah, we only figured out who was a queer after high school because some died of AIDS and others "came out".   Except for John/Joan, even though we didn't know what a queer was, we knew he was one since 2nd grade.

This is how innocent things were back when I was in 5th grade.  We would call each other *** when one of us wouldn't butch up to do something.  It wasn't until years later that someone explained to me what *** really did.  I recall my initial reaction; I called that person a liar and said "no one does that kind of stuff - you're making that up".
