Dmitry Orlov is someone I used to read. Not so much anymore as he apparently has a beef with National Socialism (I don’t blame him, I think he is at least half Jewish and of Russian nationality - I can understand his contempt for historical reasons…)
But anyway, he said a long time ago that he quit his middle class engineering job and bought a boat with a cabin. He lives / sleeps inside the boat. Very low marina fees, no property taxes, and lives off a small amount of passive income generating assets accumulated over the years. He says when the collapse comes, he doesn’t want his wealth in illiquid assets like huge McMansions, etc. and he wants to be able to relocate quickly.
My only qualm is that people have been predicting collapse since 2009…but imagine all the wealth and income you could generate if you bought the SP 500 at 700-1000, Bitcoin in the low hundreds, etc.
Sadly I learned about Bitcoin in 2014 but didn’t put some money in…sigh.

I think Bitcoin is legit. If it isn’t then I don’t see how gold is much different…it’s just a shiny metal that also happens to be constrained in supply.

Yes!! Dmitry Orlov, I used to read his work on his website, ClubOrlov. A few years ago he put it behind a paywall and I think the minimum was $5/month and I lost interest. He would write about the boat, collapse, and Russia vs the West. I had forgot him about until recently he became a regular on a YT channel that I follow called Dialogue Works.
