Joe Biden won because the DNC figured out that they could modify their GOTV efforts and use the pandemic as a way to make it EASIER for folks to vote over the course of weeks and months instead of the frenzy and climate uncertainly of election day.  The GOP steadfastly refused to embrace mail-in voting and they lost.  BIGLY.  

So... until you put on your big boy pants and admit that, we really have little to talk about on this topic.

there was no contact with a think tank. Rather,  my wife and I were inundated with phone bank phone calls for MONTHS pressing us to mail in our absentee ballot request, then to fill out ballots, then to mail them in, then to contact the SecState to insure my ballot had been received and then, finally, to get off our asses and go work phone banks which we both did, along with hundreds and hundreds of Maine democrats  We out-worked the GOP and we prevailed.

There was never any question which candidate would win the majority in deep blue Maine. But trump - uniquely - FLIPPED a district in Maine, taking one of its four electoral votes, in BOTH elections. So your claim that dems "outworked" the guy who FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS CENTURY flipped a district in deep blue Maine - not once but TWICE - is pure ****.

1.  Maine is not deep blue.  The 1st CD is deep blue, the 2nd CD is dead red.   Neither of our US Senators are Democrats.   Paul LePage, our Trump-lite former two-term Republican governor hailed from the 2nd and was extremely popular up there and his vocal support for Trump was critical in Trump's wins in that district.  

2.  My post was about how Democrats changed the GOTV process in response to COVID.  

a.  Believe it or not, but I do actually have some Republican friends here in Maine and, post-election I compared notes with a couple of them.   They reported that the GOP GOTV effort in Maine consisted SOLELY of mailers and flyers that either listed the key Trump issues, or that reminded the voter to be sure and go cast a ballot on election day.  No Republican that I have spoken with in Maine received ANY telephone calls from the Trump campaign, just a lot of printed materials in the mail.

b.  I have had a bi-weekly Zoom meeting with three of my Annapolis classmates since before COVID first struck.  Two of them are lifelong Democrats,, and one of them had just switched his party affiliation from R to D in 2018 because of his distaste for Trump.  One lived in Texas, one in California, and one in North Carolina.  ALL THREE of them reported the exact same pattern of phone calls from the Biden campaign that I had gotten... with basically identical scripts.  

c. The COVID pivot to focus on maximizing mail-in ballots was a DNC edict from the top.  And it worked.  If you have, literally, months to vote, and if you are being constantly reminded to vote by a well-oiled phone-banking operation, most people will find the time to vote, even if you are not a rabid political junkie... even if you're just a registered Democrat because your parents were and your voting history is spotty.  

d.  Conversely, If you looked at the pile of fliers from the Trump campaign on your hallway table and told yourself that you would indeed vote on election day, that's all well and good until there's a flat tire, or the babysitter called and can't come, or the boss asked you to work on this special project.  If the window you have given yourself to exercise your voting rights is twelve hours on one day in November, there are an untold myriad of obstacles that can spring up and cause even the most dedicated and well-intentioned MAGA hat-wearing voter to miss an election.

Trump is the first republican this century - possibly EVER - who took an electoral vote from maine - where you **** about how brilliantly the dems worked it.
