From what I read many years ago it takes 19 generations of carefully matched pairs of dogs with the outstanding attributes you are looking for to create a new dog breed. 
This is why "Kennel Clubs" were formed...to create the best possible gene pool and form a cooperative network..
Back in the 1700s and 1800s creating new specialized Working Dog Breeds was something that some of  the "Idle Rich" people did to not just increase their "Street Cred"  but to generate income if the breed was successful.
Old Hemp must have been the product of selective breeding up to that point in time.
Border Collies are not the product of domestic Dogs breeding with wolves you ridiculously stupid Dumb ****.
