I read long stuff, if someone takes the time to write it.  If all you are going to do is take five huge posts to copy/paste a long article, why not just post a link to it and add your own commentary to the post?  

Don't go out of your way to be an asshole.  You know that I am not an idiot.  If you'd like to elevate the dialog, that would be awesome.

There has to be a copy/paste excerpt along with the link or
I consider it a lazy asshole's SOP.

No hook (excerpt), no lookie...

Plopping an entire article up for view takes even more effort and that's obviously not appreciated by you,
a very smart man.
Even though you have to do nothing . . .  but whine about it being too daunting.

I am sorry if I came across as whining or that the task of reading five consecutive cut-and-paste posts of an op-ed piece was too daunting.  It wasn't.  

I agree with you that an excerpt lets me know whether or not I need to take the time to read the entire piece.  

And I have no idea what browser you are using but when I have multiple tabs open, I can rapidly (and nearly effortlessly) copy large swaths of text from one tab and drop them into another tab.  So the effort to replicate that process is not really something I feel the need to "appreciate" any more than I would appreciate someone simultaneously walking and chewing gum.

And I agree with you that there is a group of posters which I am extremely leery of opening links from, usually because the source site is sketchy (like the recently deceased Gateway Pundit, for example).

I think if you look at my posting history, you will find that I write a lot of my own stuff, and rarely cut and paste large chunks of text from other sites.  I appreciate the effort that people take to write posts themselves that make cogent points and stand on their own merits.

I agree.  I have occasionally copy/pasted text from an article to a post on here.  I have NEVER chosen a block of text so big that it ever came near the text limit for one post, let alone required five consecutive posts each one bumping up to the text limit in order to get all the words transferred.  That then becomes the quintessential TLDR.

I look at lots of posts (including ones that don't make it to the forum).
Taking for granted that skimming past a few pages is common, I don't see that as even worthwhile to comment on 99.9% of the time.
