Less Self-Made Millionaires Than Expected
The most surprising revelation from the survey was the following information: Only 27% of respondents claimed to be self-made (with over $3 million)! In the context of the survey, being self-made referred to individuals with a middle-class or poor upbringing and no inheritance.Jan 7, 2024

All I am saying is that you can't get ahead or become rich without some help somewhere.

"Riches" is subjective to an individual's interpretation.Vegas » 10 May 2024, 9:27 am » wrote: ↑ I can't think of one rich person who didn't have a head start before they accumulated their wealth.Etc....
- I admire Bezos mother, who was dirt poor with her children. However, she ended up marrying a Cuban refugee who had a very successful career in finance. He lent Jeff 245k to start Amazon. Therefore, Jeff himself was not a rags to riches story. His father's story was also admirable. He came from Cuba with nothing more than a ragged jacket. No family. Nothing. Literally rags. So what happened? Well...taxpayers happened. The refugee camp sent him through high school with a place to stay. He worked his *** off, and I admire him. I certainly wouldn't want to experience his conditions. Nevertheless, hadn't it been for the taxpayers, he would have stayed homeless. His mother would still be poor and they would have never been able to give Jeff 245k.

all the time economics controls human behavior every generation believing now isn't eternity. I worked with a guy back in the late 80's that didn't have a pot to piss in at the time that ended up founding two pretty successful small businesses and selling both of them at the height of their worth for several million each before he was 40.
Another fella I went to HS with got into computer programming in the early 80's and ended up retiring from a State job as the head of the IT dept before he was 50 and then started consulting for about $200 an hour after.
Did they become Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos "rich"?
Not at all, but they still started with **** and ended up in very good financial shape later in life. It definitely happens... it just depends on your definition of "riches".

The privilege of white light is it contains all the bandwidths of every color spectrum possible except black as it is an absence of reflecting any color. Now if you dare think, the so called black holes in space aren't holes, they are a section of space that doesn't reflect anything from every angle outside of it.
Vegas is now the metamorphosis of Slideman.... without the Kosher.
Yes, I’ve witnessed such cases for myself. Several (7+) friends of parents have 8 figures+ and came from poor backgrounds. 8 figures is “barely rich” these days but still far better off than 99% of people.Vegas » 10 May 2024, 9:27 am » wrote: ↑ I can't think of one rich person who didn't have a head start before they accumulated their wealth.Etc....

You said you knew him from school. He had to learn to read/write and do some math somewhere. It's unlikely he could become successful with being illiterate and not even knowing basic math. I would say that in both of the cases I mentioned, IQ was the biggest factor, and that's God given... not left to you by your rich grandfather. Lol
