the statement would approach being correct if the word "Votes" were replaced with "senators" but it would still need to say something about the presence of the VP and the VP's willingness to vote FOR the particular measure at hand. With a full chamber, you need 51 votes. 51 senators can give you 51 votes, or 50 senators and the VP can give you 51 votes, but you need 51.
No one ever said the VP was a senator, but the Constitution gives him a VOTE in the senate under certain circumstances. This being one.

You have an issue with that REALITY and often time FACT that a Senator may not be there to cast a vote and it ends up 50-49 and a bill passes???

President Pro Tem is a senator. He does not increase the count and he does not get to vote twice.
Fifty votes is not enough when everyone is there. You must have 51. Golfboy's statement is false. I have shown you that. You should just admit your error and move on instead of doubling down on stupid.
If all senators are present and voting and the vice president is there and voting, any bill that passes will have had 51 votes cast in its favor. 50 is not enough.

Some senator can change his vote or the VP can cast a tie breaking VOTE but the winning bill will always receive AT LEAST 51 votes.

to the best of my knowledge, the ONLY time a Senator can vote present is if he or she is the subject of the vote and it is a confirmation to a higher office as when John Kerry was a sitting senator nominated by Obama to be Secretary of State.
In all other cases it's yea or nay or they can abstain from voting when there is a conflict of interest, like when Mitch's wife was being nominated to a cabinet position
