It's a streaming device from Amazon that you plug into an HDMI port on your TV to watch movies and such through your wifi.
There are hacked versions called jailbreaks on the web that access everything for free Amazon has to offer for free.
I've heard they aren't that hard to hack yourself, but I have never tried.

I have no idea.
My wife has prime for the free shipping, and I'll catch an old movie on the video service from tome to time, but that's about it.
Every once in a while they will have a new release on for free when it first goes to stream, but the new stuff is usually rent or purchase only, which I never do because I'm a cheap bastard.

I'm going to go ahead and drop 100 bucks on one of the jailbreaks. I have Hulu TV, Amazon prime, Netflix, Apple TV and Peacock.

Those are all pay per services, even with a paid prime membership.
The stick itself is just a device that allows your non "smart" TV to catch the wifi signal, allowing you to use prime video on a conventional television instead of just your phone, tablet or other device.
It's the same thing as a Roku

We have a couple of older fire sticks floating around here. I may get a wild hair up my *** and try to jailbreak one just for **** and giggles. Lol

Yes. Roku and Fire stick are the most popular, but there are others too.
I think a Roku can be hacked like a fire stick too, but it's more involved. I think Amazon leaves it simple so they can sell more devices. Lol

YES. I RECOMMEND FIRESTICK THOUGH. IT HAS A MUCH LARGER STORAGE CAPACITY FOR APPS.
YOU CAN GO ONE BETTER AND GET THE FIRESTICK CUBE. COST A LITTLE MORE BUT HAS AN ENORMOUS STORAGE CAPACITY
