And I don't mean one of those silly wars where the DoD gets an unlimited budget to play around with and enrich their contractor friends...like building amazing roads in Iraq while potholes are scattered everywhere in America.

I spoke with a downsy recently who was considering enlisting. He said they were talking about sending him to Poland. 

I told him if he enlisted, he would have to take orders from men wearing panties and dresses and heels - and that if he could do that, he should return his man card. I told him that helping the US spread trans culture was a pretty **** thing to do with his life. But mostly, I told him Poland was for Pollacks, so he might have something there. 

Why would he be under the impression he might serve in Poland, I wonder? As a retard loaner to NATO, maybe? Idunno - can YOU see NATO countries going along with this ****, to the point of boots on the ground?

Well, having a breakaway republic play cozy with a hostile foreign power on your frontier WOULD be annoying - let's be fair. 

You have to look at context. The kuomintang fled certain annihilation across the sea to Formosa/Taipei/Taiwan, made a deal with the US to pretend they were the "real" china, and plotted WITH the US to overthrow the chinese mainland government and plant the taiwanese government in Beijing. That is some pretty serious ****.

Fast Forward a couple of decades to the early seventies, and China has already asserted itself powerfully enough to protect its ally north korea from THE WESTERN WORLD and to repel the US marines who presumed to cross the Yallow - making them retreat, - and has built an economy/war machine/state bureaucracy several times larger and more powerful than that of the taiwanese. They manage to cajole dick nixon into agreeing to a "one-china" policy, which meant the US was conceding the right of the chinese government to govern china and foregoing any pretense of a legitimate transfer of power to the kuomintang.

It would be like a forward operating base of the british government propping up the breakaway republic of nantucket and being recognized by the crown as the sole legitimate government of the united states, which we GRADUALLY degraded from an active threat of invasion to a remnant of that threat. We would still need it gone - that is, subject to OUR sovereignty and not the sovereignty of the british crown. It's not just optics. It's national pride. It's national identity. So long as this splinter lives, it is under our skin. 

That's the view from the chinee perspective. 

The chinee know, as you and I know, that could the US have invaded and installed the kuomintang, the US would have invaded and installed the kuomintang. That kind of **** cannot be allowed to live on, even as an echo. From the chinee perspective, it has to go - and the sooner, the better. If anything, the chinee have shown remarkable patience, because they could take taiwan tomorrow if they so desired. China has successfully played the long game in this matter, and its victory has already happened. When that victory will be formalized by a flag raising ceremony is a matter of speculation - but the answer is soon. The time for that  is on the horizon, within the global political overton window. Only retarded cold warriors who think the Reagan administration was American high water still cling to any delusions that Taipei has a future that looks anything like its past.

Most of your professional political class are quite comfortable that it was Nixon who broke the soviets - not reagan, - by opening relations with china at the cost of agreeing to china's legitimacy and sovereignty over ALL of china (including formosa). Ask not who rang the bell for taiwan - it is the United States that rang that bell and set that clock and put into motion the flag raising ceremony which will formalize what we ALREADY agreed to, 52 years ago.

Bear in mind, I am not a huge fan of Mao. It is the American left that has adopted his culture war policies and police state methodologies, which is why I split from the American left.
