Correct...fraud is a class D non-violent felony and carries a jail sentence in NY.  Trump's convictions are for class E non-violent felonies.  But thanks for confirming that I was correct and you didn't have a **** clue.

Falsifying business records in the first degree is a class E felony.

Apparently, you don't. The "step up" was the "in furtherance of another crime" that took what is normally a misdemeanor in NY and made them class E felonies.

The fact that the other crime never had to be disclosed (much less proven) is...according to the talking heads on TV...one of the grounds that will probably be used for an appeal.

Why don't you just stop digging?

You cited the wrong statute, with the wrong classification and sanction. You were apparently unaware of the details of the verdict.

Bragg CAN'T prosecute a federal crime, and the question before the jury was only whether the falsification was in the furtherance of a crime. They had no responsibility to adjudicate another matter. They had to all agree to one of 3 step up links....

With the evidence before them, they took little time to do so.
