as detailed oriented as the founding fathers were if they wanted a jailed person to be president they would have established that. what they expected from americans was that they would not vote for criminals. perhaps they gave too much credit because it is obvious that it is no longer the country or constitution that is important to some voters. only trump and only trump is important. . if convicted people could serve as president so could murderers and thieves something the founders would not want in their newly minted country. leaving out that a jailed person can serve as president does not mean they  can. to supplant the constitution  with fictitious rules is pretty unpatriotic. 

there is something in this world called common sense and not everything has to be written down. saying that since it does not state a president can serve from jail  means he can is like a wife blaming her husband the dog got hit because he did not tell her to shut the gate. just like the husband thinking his wife would have the common sense to shut the gate the founding fathers felt the american voters would have the common sense not to vote for a president in jail.
