DeSantis Supports Florida's New School Curriculum That Calls Slavery a 'Benefit' for Black Americans (msn.com)

Over the past couple of years, Florida, led by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, has passed several controversial pieces of legislation.   The most recent was approved on May 29, 2024, which states that Florida's public schools will now teach a curriculum that claims Black Americans actually benefited from slavery.
On May 29, 2024, the Florida Board of Education announced that it had "elevated Florida's nation-leading resiliency standards."  These new "standards" included several provisions, such as teaching the effects of social media, personal health, and substance abuse. But it also changed the language that will be used to teach students about slavery.
The National Education Association reported that Florida's new curriculum say that African Americans benefited from slavery.

Tense matters.

Your topic line indicates present tense... as though DeSantis is advocating for modern day slavery because it serves the black community well... which is total ****.

The point being made (and it's a valid one) is that black people in this Country today are in a better position in means of the availability of opportunities, technology, healthcare, etc etc because their ancestors where brought (past tense) to this Country 100's of years ago as slaves.

The spin in this story is trying to say that DeSantis is saying that slavery was, or even still is, a "good" thing... which is not the point in any way shape or form.

The desperation of the progressive left is exposed more and more each day, as indicated by the absurdity of their spin.

What's so sad is, a large portion of the electorate in this Country willingly swallows that **** without question, and begs for more.

One of my daughter's friends (25 year old female) walked in a few days ago ranting about how she "heard" that if Trump was elected, he was going to start throwing women in prison for having a miscarriage... and she was 100% sure it was the truth too.

Her "source" for this info?

Yes.
****** benefited greatly from slavery.
They lived  a "Kill or be Killed" Stone Age existence with no signs of elevating themselves above that. 
They were transported into a new world that eventually exposed them to opportunities that they never could have created for themselves alone.
By every measure they lagged behind the rest of humanity by no less than 1000 years and by as much as infinity for things that they had no hope of ever being able to invent on their own.
Opportunities to interbreed with the far  more intelligent Caucasians was a Rocket Sled Ride forward for their newly founded sub race pf "Americanized Africans"

Here's a fun fact from our heritage:

Coopers were the highest paid tradesmen within the brewery owing to their specialised skill set, along with the time finishing an apprenticeship could take. A cooper could also be paid per cask rather than a weekly wage. This 'piecework' rate benefited coopers who could combine speed and quality with a handsome profit.

Here is another fun fact from our heritage: In many southern states, slaves were taught to be coopers. Upon gaining their freedom, these slaves were able to go into business and were paid quite well for their labors. One might make a statement of fact, such as "slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”

Oh I see....it's a word game....black "Americans" can appreciate the inheritance granted them by their ancestors being slaves...Otherwise they would be picking nits and still using a termite stick to get their lunch.

it's the "Africanized"-American version that tries to use something they never experienced as a personal ATM paid for by taxpayers who had nothing at all to do with it....basically a new never ending "WELFARE" based on projected generational guilt.

from whitey who they hate anyway...we should ask from past welfare payments made to all Africanized American versions in order to qualify

The OP topic line was written in the present tense...

... to make it sound like DeSantis supports the curriculum because he thinks that slavery is beneficial for black Americans... which is a simply not true.

I was pointing out that slavery was not only beneficial for some blacks at the time, but even enriched later generations that would have never realized the opportunities this Country offered without their previous ancestors coming here a couple of hundred years ago... albeit under horrible conditions.
