... to make it sound like DeSantis supports the curriculum because he thinks that slavery is beneficial for black Americans... which is a simply not true.

I was pointing out that slavery was not only beneficial for some blacks at the time, but even enriched later generations that would have never realized the opportunities this Country offered without their previous ancestors coming here a couple of hundred years ago... albeit under horrible conditions.

The point of the curriculum is to teach that some blacks actually did benefit from being brought to this Country as slaves, and that generations that have followed have as well.

That is the "point" I was referring to. 

Punch was trying to make it sound like DeSantis was insinuating that if we could only reinstitute slavery, it would benefit them black folks even more... which wasn't the case.

Maybe not the clearest way of saying that on my part, but certainly not stupid.

Comments from DeSantis last year when the curriculum bill was moving the State legislature...

Your case is not sustained by your link. The pretense of your thread title - that in Florida, slavery is being swept under the rug as a mitzva - is far from sustained by the shabby and hysterical reportage from which you purportedly gleaned this gem of retardation. 
 
Pointing out that some slaves learned valuable trades while kept as farm animals, and calling slavery in general a benefit for blacks in general, are two positions extremely far removed from one another. It isn't reality's FAULT that propaganda makes your ****** bleed. It's what propaganda is designed to do, and it is YOUR FAULT that you let it.

Cooper is the name for barrel maker, and coopers were needed in every part of the country at the end of the civil war. A competent cooper could make an above average living - and in many areas, black slaves were trained as coopers. THIS GAVE THEM AN EDGE when they were freed. It was a BENEFIT to be a trained cooper, and this benefit gave many a black slave a leg up.

Now, MOST black slaves did not have these talents - and so if the curriculum taught that slaves IN GENERAL had access to free bubble up and rainbow stew the day after emancipation, then it would be blameworthy. But you cannot sustain that Florida teaches that, because that is hysterical nonsense assembled to get fools into high dudgeon. 

The thing that the NEA is hyperventilating about students being taught is factually correct. There is no indication it is being over-emphasized; if anything, the indication is that it's being cherry picked and blown out of proportion as part of the culture war against Florida and America.
