Absolutely. I stayed in because I loved being at sea, seeing the world, and serving my country. My classmates who did their mandatory five years and got out used their USNA degrees to make a TON more money in the private sector than they could have made if they had stayed in. The business world loves hiring service academy grads for their superior leadership skills. Didn't you know that?

I don't think I ever said that I was MORE patriotic than you. I simply said that I stayed in for 21 years of commissioned service primarily because of patriotism and not the paycheck. I could have made MUCH more with my degree in the private sector than I ever could in uniform.
