Basically, this was just a typical example of how nobody should take the usa seriously.

Imagine what it would be like to read a few pages of pareto and then watch this debate. They literally got in an argument about who was better at golf.

Biden called trump fat and a whiner. Both suggested their opponent was criminal. Neither could agree on basic facts.

But their priorities were rather clearly implied. Trump criticized immigration for stealing the jobs of black people. Neither mentioned what concerns white people might have.

Biden actually tried the cliche that politicians should not legislate on woman's health. Which of course translates to politicians should have no say on whether murder should be illegal. Well if that isnt part of their job, what is?

It's a dumb and fake cliche, but it does open up an interesting paradigm. Why should politicians have any say about social security then? Leave it to economists? Why should they have a say on ukraine or israel? Why not generals? What actually is the job of politicians? Just making sure black people have jobs?

Honestly, I do not see how anyone could watch that debate and still have any respect for the usa, despite how convinced biden said he was that it is the best county. Regardless of which candidate you think is unacceptable (because it has to be one or the other)...it was also a former president. These apparently are the greatest leaders that this 'country' can muster.

let's examine Trump being a convicted felon, for example. Biden mentioned that no president had ever been a convicted felon. If, as biden suggests, Trump really is a rapist...then that is not merely an indictment on Trump, it is an indictment on the country.

Meanwhile, in the same debate, biden insisted the usa is the greatest country.

that statement is obviously contradicted by the fact we elect rapists as president, according to his world view. and it is an obvious contradiction, and he made this contradiction expecting few people would notice. And he was right. And something is wrong with the people who voted for Trump, in bidens world view. That is a lot of people.

Meanwhile, if Trump is innocent and the country is just committing bad faith lawfare on him in an attempt to keep him out of office, that is also an indictment on this country. And an indictment on people who voted for biden, which is a lot of people.

No matter how you slice it, the country sucks. It isn't even about Trump vs biden.

that being said, you're correct..most people I talk to, talk about how sad it is that these two are the only choices we have..third parties are always outliers or potential disrupters, nothing else until another party becomes a viable threat...

unfortunately there are too many influencers, aka lobbyists with deep pockets that run gubment...it's a place where if you pander enough to those who vote you in, serve *sic* a minimum of two terms, you'll reap all the benefits and walk away a millionaire..

Debates are a popularity contest. A marketing ploy.
Have we ever actually learned anything "new" about a candidate?

I expect Trump would single out the demographic with which he can make the most brownie points.

Biden has only a splatter gun approach similar to his brain scan
(which must be as structured as a 50 year wet-brain).
Puree intended.
