Putin has balls - the USA does not. It's a matter of time, IMO. Be ready for a space-based EMP attack on the U.S.
Russia can do this today, if it chooses. It has unstoppable hypersonic missiles. One of these is their Avanguard, which can deliver an EMP payload to American shores.

It can be in the zone below low-earth orbit. ISS and MIR for example.
A low-yield atomic was detonated decades ago in space and fried electronics 250 miles away.
That was wires and tubes. Delicate printed circuit boards today wouldn't take much to cook.
That would constitute an act of war.
The destruction of the nordstream was the predicate act of war. SANCTIONS are an act of war. Our meddling in Ukraine is an act of war.DeezerShoove » 19 Jul 2024, 8:20 pm » wrote: ↑ Doesn't have to be near American shores.

I do not believe that Putin has any NEED to use traditional nukes. An EMP payload would obviate that necessity.Sumela » 19 Jul 2024, 8:37 pm » wrote: ↑ Let's not forget about the POSEIDON...
the 70' long nuclear torpedo aimed at the tranny filled east coast.
And much less showy. A back up weapon, however, is simply the smart way to be prepared.Cannonpointer » 19 Jul 2024, 8:46 pm » wrote: ↑ I do not believe that Putin has any NEED to use traditional nukes. An EMP payload would obviate that necessity.

My Gramps used that phrase in anything involving safety measures. I recall throwing my bike in the back of my truck
to go the trails. It was not secured. That was my plan. Gramps said..."WTF are you doing? Yer asking for trouble"".
He proceeded to strap it down with 2 ratchet straps.
ALSO. Lavrov chaired the UN on Tuesday.

The only question is whether and when Russia will RESPOND to these acts of war. And it could do so with an EMP attack. I'm not sure such an attack could be launched today - but I am sure that we are giving Putin every reason to want to take our **** off the game board.
What we are doing over there is very serious. The moment ex-KGB agent and brilliant leader Putin decides the threat is existential, and the moment he has the capacity to respond with an EMP, I believe we can expect an EMP tout de suite.

But the caveat you put on it is the critical aspect: deciding the threat is existential.
The situation of cat and mouse games, "capturing spies" to use as barter, **** with finances (sanctions and Nordstream), arming the enemy of the opposition, etc. all play into it. When the last straw is reached and the camel's back can't take it... that's when you find it's one simple thing that triggered a World War.
Like Archduke Ferdinand. Ultimately just another snooty elite killed amid tensions that were already there. It was said/written that there was a hunting accident a month previous to the assassination where a shotgun was dropped and discharged right next to him. One of his hunting partners speculated that the war may never have happened if Ferdinand had been killed then.
IOW which was the important factor? The Duke or the circumstances?
Right now we have lots of poking the bears and rattling the swords... None of it good.
Liberals (like Seth McFarland) make fun of Trump's relationship with Putin. Expert opinion, mind you.
I didn't see a problem with it. At least not by comparison to what's happening now.
Hollywood making sure we all know his political rivals were killed or poisoned. Bad man, right?
We'd never set someone loose on our presidential rivals here, right?

The concern I have is that Trump's record with Putin - leaving aside the PR **** - was as bad as any president's. He was the first president to arm Ukraine. He was the president that reinvigorated NATO, whose only mission is the destruction of Russia. He put stronger sanctions on Russia than Obama did. The idea that Putin and Trump are buddies is pure ****. The question is whether Trump will force Zelensky to the table.DeezerShoove » 20 Jul 2024, 5:55 am » wrote: ↑ I can't disagree.
