That is your interpretation, because it supports your narrative. I see the "according to some economists" applying to the entire paragraph.Blackvegetable » 25 Jul 2024, 10:54 am » wrote: ↑ The answer is

Your projection is noted... again.
You've got your own problems.
The only problem I have is that my boot keeps getting stuck in your ***.

No...that is what the syntax tells you.*rippy38 » 25 Jul 2024, 11:22 am » wrote: ↑ That is your interpretation, because it supports your narrative. I see the "according to some economists" applying to the entire paragraph.
"some economists" believe we're are about to "stick a soft landing" and avoid a recession.
"some economists" believe that recession is still imminent as well.
Your C&P is an opinion piece, as always.
Then post your example of intelligent thought.*Vegas » 25 Jul 2024, 11:48 am » wrote: ↑ Still no intelligent thoughts.
As always, blatant projection.
Now you are assuming to know the grammatical intentions of the author... which you have no way of knowing.Blackvegetable » 25 Jul 2024, 11:48 am » wrote: ↑ No...that is what the syntax tells you.
It is why that clause is on the other side of the dash.
No....I'm just reading it the way it is written.*rippy38 » 25 Jul 2024, 12:01 pm » wrote: ↑ Now you are assuming to know the grammatical intentions of the author... which you have no way of knowing.
You are trying to cherry pick what parts of the paragraph are the opinions of the economists, to suit your narrative.
My interpretation is that the entire paragraph is the opinion of "some economists"... which included the opinion that we are about to "stick a soft landing"... which is still yet to be seen.
The dash can serve multiple grammatical purposes... not just the one you picked to suit your narrative.Blackvegetable » 25 Jul 2024, 12:04 pm » wrote: ↑ No....I'm just reading it the way it is written.
The dash isn't there by accident.
Why don't you explain what purpose it serves in your scheme*rippy38 » 25 Jul 2024, 12:10 pm » wrote: ↑ The dash can serve multiple grammatical purposes... not just the one you picked to suit your narrative.
As I said, you are claiming to know the intention of the writer, which you have no way of knowing.
I see it one way, and you another.
"some economists" say we're doing well, and "some economists" say not so well... subject to opinion.
no...that's jive.and "some economists" say not so well... subject to opinion.
