How about this, then? The REST are conspicuously absent in their brother soldier's time of need. And his SOLE DEFENDER acknowledges he's a valor thief.
Will that work, fruitcake?

ANd his webiste continues to fib about that.maineman » 09 Aug 2024, 10:16 am » wrote: ↑ He did not break his word. He decided to try to serve his country in another capacity, which was his right. He had earned his retirement, and the military doesn't denigrate you for deciding to put in your retirement paperwork. Units go on when they lose leaders. It happens ALL the time. I would know. You wouldn't. The fact that he hadn't completed all of the training necessary to become a permanent command sergeant major meant he retired at the E-8 paygrade instead of E-9.
If that were the case, his retelling of his record would jibe with his actual record.maineman » 09 Aug 2024, 10:16 am » wrote: ↑ I am quite sure HE didn't view that as a demotion, but simply the expected result of him retiring before finishing the CSM coursework.

yup
Real close. I do not doubt that many more than just one of his fellow soldiers say the criticism is unjust and unwarranted. And, as I said, I have no doubt that, at his retirement ceremony, he was wearing the insignia of a CSM and that the reduction in pay grade for retirement benefits simply followed regulations and protocol regarding school completion and was not a punishment or negative mark on his stellar service. How about that?Cannonpointer » 09 Aug 2024, 10:49 am » wrote: ↑ You trying to jew me down, son?
Look. the purpose of debate is synthesis. In the interests of which, I am willing to craft a position on which we can both agree.
How about this?
A FEW of Walz's fellow soldiers are raising the alarm that he is a valor thief, that he has lied about his rank at retirement, and that he fled service to avoid deployment. ONE of his fellow soldiers says the last critique is unjust, and most veterans would likely agree. People have a right to retire, and 24 years of service is nothing to sneeze at, they contend. And they see nothing fishy about his timing.
The criticism that he ought not to have characterized himself in an off the cuff speech as a combat veteran is justified, and the fact-claim that he misspoke about his rank at retirement is also justified.
I can sign off on that. Can you? If not, with what part of it do you take issue?
His official biography on the Minnesota state website says “Command Sergeant Major Walz retired from the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion in 2005.”He did reach the rank of command sergeant major near the end of his service, but he officially retired one rank below as a master sergeant.A national guard spokesperson told the BBC that “his rank reverted to master sergeant on May 15th, 2005, for benefit purposes because he did not complete additional coursework at the US Army Sergeants Major Academy. He retired the following day.”maineman » 09 Aug 2024, 12:22 pm » wrote: ↑ Real close. I do not doubt that many more than just one of his fellow soldiers say the criticism is unjust and unwarranted. If you want to see what a demotion upon retirement looks like, read about THIS asshole:

and I know for a fact that this asshole flew a four-star pennant on his own power boat after retirement.
In the world of your doubts, more than one. MANY more than one.maineman » 09 Aug 2024, 12:22 pm » wrote: ↑ Real close. I do not doubt that many more than just one of his fellow soldiers say the criticism is unjust and unwarranted.
Nothing in the synthesized statement said anything about punishment. And no, I will not join you in your conjectures about how he dressed when he retired. He's been seen wearing a hat with Green Beret insignia - I will speculate he wore THAT, if we are interjecting speculations.maineman » 09 Aug 2024, 12:22 pm » wrote: ↑And, as I said, I have no doubt that, at his retirement ceremony, he was wearing the insignia of a CSM and that the reduction in pay grade for retirement benefits simply followed regulations and protocol regarding school completion and was not a punishment or negative mark on his stellar service.
