I'm not clever enough to foresee why they allowed this to happen...but rest assured they have a reason for why they allowed this "highly compromised VP pick" to happen.
If they were to stage an assassination of Walz done by an ultra-RW / conservative / greatest threat to our democracy / bible pounding ex GI with a bump stock equipped AR=15...then that would make sense for nominating this Walz as a sacrificial lamb.
The [[[MSM]]] could milk enough extra votes out of something like that to win without cheating.
