Actually it’s not even the 20/hr =? 6 figs, it’s his follow up comment that he thinks $80K a yr for a family with both husband/wife working a “low skill job” is “crazy”
$80K a yr is barely above (actual) poverty for a family of 3 according to MIT’s living wage calculator (assuming a standard metro) which better represents an actual poverty line
[If we substituted MIT’s living wage calculations for the current baselines to determine poverty, the poverty level would likely be somewhere between 25-30%]
