There are 2 million people in Gaza, actually.

And israel would not even allow them to 'escape' to Egypt. That would cause political instability in egypt and could potentially undue all the hard work Israel invested in making Egypt a vassal state (since the suez canal crisis). They actually want thr people in Gaza to move to the west.
