And yes, it failed. Just because we vote doesn't mean it is working just hunky-dory. Democracy can be considered a failure when the leaders do what is in the best of interest of themselves, not the people. This is nothing new. Our government didn't invent the idea of using corruption for its model to govern. We just took lessons from history and helped perfect it. 

I still have not declared the reason why it failed in America. The clever and adorable phrase "for the people, by the people, and of the people" failed to defend itself against one fatal enemy. The populace itself. What if these very same people are retarded? 

The founders wanted this issue to be taken seriously. The people should be well educated if they are going to choose leaders, else they will end up nothing more than sheep who run to the wolves. 

The real reason why our democracy has failed isn't because we have a corrupt government. It is because our society is too stupid to understand the dangers of wolves. Thus, they become sheep.

the state clearly likes to maintain an appearance of legitimacy. But even if they abandoned that and told people they couldnt vote anymore, nothing would really happen. You cannot have a revolution without organization and leadership...people cannot spontaneously self organize. We have no way to do that. And most people arent unhappy enough to die for it.
