Title IX is the bedrock legal protection for women, yet the Biden-Harris proposal would gut the law and, in fact, achieve the opposite of its intention. By redefining the word “sex,” the administration blurs the line between a man and a woman and effectively eviscerates opportunities that women and girls have fought for decades to secure.
Each step of the way, the Committee has challenged the rule and attempted to block it through congressional action. Multiple states and advocates have also filed lawsuits around the country, and those lawsuits are winning, prompting federal district court judges to stop the Department of Education from enforcing the Title IX rewrite in those states.
