Considering that massive gubmint spending cuts will lead to a premature economic depression, given the sorry state of the private sector, I doubt even the Orange Conman would do something so stupid.
If anything he is likely to explode the national debt to keep the stock market propped up a little longer, which is what the stock market is pricing in right now by remaining bullish.
The end result is inevitable.

In other U.S. elections, candidates are elected directly by popular vote. But the president and vice president are not elected directly by citizens. Instead, they are chosen through the Electoral College process. The process of using electors comes from the Constitution.
