Ukraine has just reported that during the morning, in fact small, raid on Ukraine, we used an RS-26 missile for the first time from the Kapustin Yar test site.

It allegedly struck one of the Dnepropetrovsk industrial enterprises.

Considering that the AFU with western help is perfectly tracking the trajectories of Russian missiles, we can take this information seriously.

What is remarkable about this missile?

The fact is that it was originally developed as a light ICBM, capable of striking at a distance of more than 5,500 km (so as not to violate the INF Treaty). Its development was completed back in the 2010s, but it was never put into production (preference was given to the Avangard complex).

Meanwhile, the RS-26 has those unique characteristics that can allow Russia to qualitatively increase the fire pressure on the AFU’s rear. The fact is that it can fly shorter distances.

And its almost one and a half ton warhead is three times larger than the warhead of the Iskander. Accordingly, it is more powerful and no foreign air defense system is capable of intercepting it.

And in a non-nuclear version, it is capable of sucking the blood of the Ukraine’s military-industrial complex.

In addition, the energy of the missile is such that it can be used at a distance of up to 2000-2500 km with a more powerful warhead (4-5 tons). If it is made like that (in a non-nuclear version), then it will be a super-powerful weapon and in the case of wars a la SMO very destructive (albeit expensive).

I am still blown away by Russia’s response and Putin’s speech—and how important and absolutely necessary a decisive reaction was.

What we witnessed today looked like an attack by aliens with superior technology.

NATO is bound to have a massive headache now, while the public will be pacified with “alternative” facts.

Correction: The missile used by Russia was not the RS-26, but rather a previously unknown medium range missile known as the Orezhnik (Hazel).

A medium range missile is generally characterized as having a range of between 1,000 and 3,000 kilometers.

The range from Kapustin Yar to Dnipro is around 800 kilometers.

Vladimir Putin indicated that this missile could be used to strike targets throughout Europe.

Not much is known about the Orezhnik.

However, the Ukrainian government has reported that an RS-26 had been observed at Kapustin Yar prior to the launch, implying that they had access to satellite imagery.

As such, one can speculate that the Orezhnik physically resembles the RS-26, meaning that it uses a six-axle mobile launcher and is fired from a launch canister mounted on the launcher.

If this is the case, the Orezhnik may be a modification of the Rubezh, implying that it is a product of the Nadiradzhe/Votkinsk missile production team.

However, everything is speculation pending more definitive information.

US officials described the Orezhnik as an “experimental” system, implying that they were aware of its existence.
