I guess I don't disagree with your assessment. Cold and calculating isn't the problem.
When people become insistent and talk down to others regularly (among other things),
then it seems there's some emotional investment in "making the other guy listen and understand".

No surprises at all for me when it comes to polling the "rank and file" of any protest.    
A huge percentage cannot reliably articulate even the most basic reasons why they're on the street.

Many cannot articulate the specific reasons, but there is the sense of “anger” and “resentment” brewing esp. if there are those who are (whether accurately or not) perceived to be the beneficiaries of Lady Luck / corrupt grifting as opposed to success stories reliant upon industry and toil as most of us have been led to believe…

Regardless, that is not my concern. I’m just here to profit off the inevitable reckoning and misery.

How people want to react is their own issue… but I take joy in thinking about different scenarios or outcomes (such as people blaming “the government”)

When getting into a "sense" of a crowd mood, you must acknowledge that a lot of the steam in that pressure cooker has been relieved due to the election. Some of the fuels of that bad mood were election anomalies, thin margins of victory, "installed" (not elected) politicians, artificialities being exposed (polls, op-eds), etc.

Hypocritical sycophants by the dozens cheering on a senile, corrupt, ghost of a man for years ruined the credibility of "messaging". **** their messages.

Politicians-represent. Judges-stop being activists. Journalists-report.

Even the people that were wailing and gnashing their teeth from Trump 45 aren't doing so for Trump 47. Most of what I see are leftie-apologist talking heads trying to gin up that sense of "anger" and "resentment". The crowd isn't buying it as easily it seems.

I don't think the spark is there now. The fire went almost cold. Doesn't mean it can't start back up, of course.
But that tinder box (MSM) ain't what it used to be.

The jury in the NY trial of Daniel Penny should reach a verdict today.
For those unfamiliar with the case, he's the ex-Marine who was riding the NY subway when a homeless mental patient began harassing and threatening other subway riders.  He stepped in and wrestled him to the floor with a neck hold as he was taught in the Marines.  The homeless man died, and the corrupt NY prosecutor Alvin Bragg decided to charge Penny with murder, despite the fact that the coroner determined that the cause of death was the drugs the guy was taking.

The point being, if and when Penny is found innocent, it will embolden others to fight back against criminals and attackers.  Gun sales have skyrocketed in the past few years since the BLM/Antifa riots in 2020, and those people you think will be wealthy targets in the suburbs now realize it is up to them to defend themselves, with their guns if necessary.  When a few of those "smart petty thieves" you're waiting for to mete out the "hate the rich" justice you crave get shot and killed, those thieves will go back to the looting mobs in retail stores that are comparably much safer for them.

I doubt that’s likely since 50% of them are on vacation / away from home. Who’s going to stop break ins / shoot perpetrators if the hosts are gone?

All systems and forces adapt over time. Thieves targeting wealthy suburbs with house prices in the top 1.5% within a locale will become a thing.
