The Hagia Sophia? Absolutely. Unless I am mistaken, the Hagia Sophia was so beautiful that instead of razing it and building a mosque where it stood - par for the course in those days on both sides, Christian and Moslem, - the Muslims reconsecrated it as a mosque. I believe that mosque is considered one of the great architectural treasures of history. It started as an Orthodox Christian church - and became a mosque.

A lot of people were extremely pissed off when Erdogan decided to turn it back into a mosque in 2020. It had been a museum. It could have been some pissed off Greeks. Hard to say. It's been a museum since before WWII. But in Erdogan's defense, a turkish court found that the deed from the guy that conquered it from the Byzantine Empire specifically spared the Cathedral on the condition it be used as a mosque. 

No matter which way Erdogan went, he was gonna piss off a lot of people. A lot of people just like being pissed off. 

And that is one of the things that just KEEPS me angry. Those kinds of people. They piss me off.

The population is about 50% Christian (various brands - even Baptists--LOL-- & 50% Islam (various brands).
There are Christian churches and Muslim mosques on the same streets.

Evolving is how human nature happens with ancestors living eternally separated by sharing the moment here since conceived changing form from the instant two people made one's specific addition to the species so far.
