This is a good question. It could easily be fixed by raising the age or by means testing. Or by getting rid of the cap on contributions. Or by some mix of those three. But I doubt "they" will try to save it. 

And it's easy peasey, thanks to reagan, for them to steal the SS trust fund from the impregnable lock box. All they have to do is not honor the debt instruments. The SS trust fund bonds are the only U.S. bonds that are not negotiable to third parties. They can only be cashed - or declined - by the federal government.

They will do all 3.

Eating well can often mean eating cheaply. Except that fruits and vegetables are more expensive. Most must be purchased organic. 

Lamb tends to be expensive in the US - and goat, too. It's more of a niche market here than in other countries. 

I am back to considering the expat route. I go back and forth.

I am back to considering the expat route. I go back and forth.

I can tell you are torn because your family is still here.

Perhaps you could, say, once every month, warn them of the next financial crisis, and make a plan B on the side. Maybe they will finally be convinced when the tsunami hits the shores and follow your plan B in the nick of time.

We know “they” have been at it for a very long time. DUBYA attempted a partial privatization but it failed, probably because Republicans’ own constituents wrote angry letters and shouted at the top of their lungs over angry phone calls.

No, no other reservation. They are circling the idea of being expats. Had Kamala won, we would very likely be caravaning southward. They were truly horrified that the election would be stolen for that manufactured thing. 

I can't shake the idea of checking out a little mile high valley in Ecuador that caught my fancy some years back. It's called Vilcabamba. I've never been there, but I narrowed in on the area when I was studying locations in earnest. It's close enough to the shore to get fresh seafood, close enough to the tropical climate below to get fresh fruits, and high enough in altitude to offer an incredibly stable year-round Mediterranean climate. It receives its water from the glacier above, and the water is highly mineralized to the point of being colloidal. There is a low crime rate and a low cost of living, and a small enough/large enough expat community to keep life interesting. 

I will likely head there for a month or two in August of this year, just to snoop around and see what I think about the place. Florianopolis BR was very nice, but it didn't grab me by the ******. My emphasis is on healthy water and healthy food, and Florianopolis was just okay in that regard. I want better than okay. I've got okay right here in the USA.

Again...employees of the contractor ARE NOT employees of Trump. Besides, an attempt to file a lien by the employees of a contractor would be quickly rejected.  They have no standing (or grounds) to file the lien, much less against someone who isn't their employer.
