Trump put out a BID CONTRACT. MULTIPLE General Contractors BID ON THAT CONTRACT. Trump chose the one from those bids to BUILD HIS PROPERTY which included that they DEMOLISH THE EXISTING building, do the foundational work, and erect and complete the structure.
Trump PAID THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR who in turn, HIRED MULTIPLE SUBCONTRACTORS TO COMPLETE VARIOUS PHASES OF THE WORK. ALL payments from that point on were from the GENERAL CONTRACTOR to the SUBS and from that to the WORKERS.
The ONLY CHECKS Trump wrote were to the GENERAL CONTRACTOR. ALL THE OTHER WORKERS were paid by the SUB or General Contractor, depending on WHO HIRED THEM.
