He looks at the situation, nods his head, and says, "Jack let ya down?" I said, "I've never seen anything like it." He laughed. "You never had a chance in this gravel. Ya need one of these - but ya ain't got room in that thing." We both had a laugh. He pulled that floor jack out and got me on my way pdq. That was pretty **** embarrassing. But at least he saw that I'd made an effort. I really had no choice in the matter - that rickety little jack was a piece of ****.
I felt like a real beevee.
It's amazing in this day and age of safety that the mfgs aren't forced to provide better jacks.
I carry a hydraulic bottle jack and several short chunks of 2x6 as part of my kit.
The 2x6s can be used to stabilize the base of the bottle jack, or else stack them up to add range to the jack's built in range. I also carry a 12volt air compressor and a few of those tire puncture fix it kits you can get at HF.
At any rate flats don't seem to be nearly as common as they used to be.
