Is it that in your economic ignorance, Americans will continue to buy an avocado imported from Mexico when the price is 25% higher than those grown in California, Florida, or Hawaii?  Are you too ignorant to grasp the fact that US avocado growers will see their sales increase as a result of that Trump tariff on Mexico?  Or is it just that you hate ANYTHING that benefits the American economy if Trump does it, while adoring the stupidity of Biden when he intentionally caused the price of gas to triple?

Or are you too ignorant to figure that out simply because of your insane hatred of anything Trump does?

But I guess that's more work than most lazy *** want to expend, isn't it?

sure. raising prices is always good for the country. americans love to pay more, in fact they petition stores to raise prices.

It does not take a phd to figure that tariffs will cause inflation in the short term. Could we grow avocadoes in Southern Arizona, Southern California, or Texas? Yes.. but not at the same low cost.

So you're saying that if you're shopping for avocados in the supermarket, and you see two bins full of them, one from California growers selling at the same price as they always have of $1 each, and another bin with avocados from Mexico at $1.25, when they were also $1 each last week, you would pay more for the Mexican avocado every time?

And even if YOU are dumb enough to buy the $1.25 Mexican avocado, you're too ignorant to understand that most people would buy the California one for 25 cents less, resulting in a far greater demand for California growers?

WHO'S EAGERLY PAYING MORE FOR THE MEXICAN AVOCADO BESIDES YOU, YOU IDIOT?

Oh, so you're saying that the new Trump tariff WON'T have any effect on the price of imported avocados sold in the US?
Because if that's the case, it means that the Mexican avocado growers have absorbed the Trump tariff in order to be price competitive with the US avocado growers, doesn't it?

This tariff will be a huge boon to the California growers, and the only Americans that pay ANY of that tariff are the ones (probably like you) who are dumb enough to spend an extra 25 cents to buy an imported one!
Do you disagree, you economic moron?

You can't have it both ways, simpleton.

If, as you wheeze, meskin growers are absorbing the cost and staying in the market, the tariff cannot be a "huge boon" - or any boon - to California growers. They are still competing with the same flow of meskin avocados, at the same price. The fact is, meskin avocados are 90% of the market. They ARE the market. They don't have to compete with American grown, because there ARE no American grown to compete with, once those 10% are sold.

The price of meskin avocados with increase, almost certainly, as importers fork over the duty and pass it on to consumers. That's how taxes work - you used to understand this. Meskin avocados will go in one of two directions: up, or away.

If American consumers are willing to eat the tariff, the price will go up. If American consumers prefer to go without, rather than pay the increased price, the meskins will find another market for their avocados. It won't happen overnight. It'll be done one grower or consortium of growers at a time. By the time 40% of the meskin avocados have found new markets, the remainder will likely sell at the higher tariffed price. Not every consumer is going to be dissuaded.

That is how the world works, you bloviating, self-slapping child.

So tell me, genius.  In all the world, where is Mexico going to find another market that's equivalent in size of the US giant economy to replace the lost US market?  And if the prices are the same for imported or California-grown avocados here, what makes you think that Americans won't prefer to support the domestic growers instead?

And an ignorant buffoon like you believes that even if Mexico loses 40% of their sales because of the Trump tariffs, they'll simply shrug their shoulders and wave goodbye to those sales?  THERE IS NO OTHER MARKET ON EARTH that has the ability to replace the sales that Mexico gets from the US.  You're just too dumb to accept that fact and think you know the economic realities better than Trump.

You did not address my issue. Instead, you deflected to another argument.

Clean up your mess. Admit that tariffs against Mexico are only going to raise the price for American consumers, and will NOT result in an overnight avocado boom from US growers. Mexico provides 90% of the avocados Americans consume.

THERE IS NO OTHER SUPPLIER THAT IS GOING TO STEP UP AND SAVE AMERICAN CONSUMERS FROM PAYING THOSE TARIFFS, you fruit.

I deflected NOTHING you lying scumbag!
YOU made the idiotic claim that Mexico can just "sell their avocados to another market", showing the ignorance you possess, thinking that there actually IS "another market" that can even come close to the sales they get from the US, to say nothing about the additional costs they'll incur of shipping a highly perishable item across the world!  Only an ignorant dolt who has never had an instant of business experience like you could possibly be so stupid to fail to realize this!

Now, let me shove yet ANOTHER one of your lies back up your dumb ***!
There are PLENTY of other countries that supply avocados and they would be overjoyed at the opportunity to sell them to the HUGE US market if Trump's tariffs make those coming from Mexico too costly.
Need proof?  Of course, a moron like you ALWAYS needs to have your nose rubbed in it, and of course, I find it highly enjoyable to do so!

Guatemala gearing up to export avocados to US despite tariffs and delays

For decades, Mexico has been the main source of imported avocados to the U.S. along with small amounts from a few South American nations. Guatemala expects to similarly begin small, but hopes to seize on its proximity and experience exporting to Europe to rapidly expand and meet the increasing U.S. demand.
