- combined those 2 minority groups make up almost 80% of all welfare recipients

Food stamps used to be for staples. I don't mind churches doing it, either, so long as they keep their hands off the children.
Nobody has a right to free big macs, and giving people free big macs is murder, anyway - so, wrong on both counts.
This thread is not about whether to give poor people food skamps. It's about whether they should be able to use those food skamps as a down payment on a Ferrari, or to purchase a television, or liquor, or candy bars, or cigarettes.
There are currently limits - but those limits have been radically eroded over time. And the erosion was not just entropy expressing - oh, no. The erosion was the result of LOBBYING. The corps are avaricious, and they resented big ag's monopoly on the food skamp teat-straw.
In california, you can buy big macs with food skamps. And if you think this is because food skamp recipients wanted it this way, bless your heart. MCDONALDS wanted it this way. Their lobbying firms are better connected than Tyron, Rastus and Shaquita, the group representing food skamp recipients.
