Why not? It's PE is reasonable, given its earnings growth. I get it, in the short run its quite volatile. But, I think its a good long term holding.
I'm doing the Warren Buffett thing with Nvidia - buy and hold onto it forever. They will own America some day.nefarious101 » 44 minutes ago » wrote: ↑ yeah....been whipping that mule for a while. Like watching paint dry

It's definitely a solid company. It will be around for a long time. However, I see it as more of a long-term investment stock than an option one.nefarious101 » 8 minutes ago » wrote: ↑ but it could go either way....company itself looks solid tho

Another company that I just never could warm up to.nefarious101 » 1 minute ago » wrote: ↑ yeah....I also got hooked up with Palantir.....hard to let go at this point

Palantir is the operating system for AI and that includes defense and a growing part of the government...it's running the battlefield and logistics in Ukraine....they say it almost tells the future at times because it's so good
Palantir just doesn't fit my model. It's PE is in the 400's. Basically, the price of the stock is arbitrary and not tied in any way to what the company makes. I would have to be far more knowledgeable (insider knowledgeable) about its products to assess Palantir's future profitability. Since I can't come close to doing that, I just can't even consider it.nefarious101 » Today, 3:45 pm » wrote: ↑ been in since opening day....ran to 30+ and then down to six or so.....added at 7...14....21 and some more on the dip

For the most part, I'm a buy and hold forever guy. I typically only sell if I think a company or fund has lost its mojo. Sometimes, when I see that a stock is range-bound, I will do a little margin/leveraged day-trading. I did this with Nvidia for awhile while it was rangebound between 130 and 143. When I saw the volatility rise even a little on that stock, I stopped. If I see things set up nicely with Apple, Microsoft, Google, BofA, or some other mega-caps, I will play a little.

I'm a cross between a value investor and a technology-growth investor. I'm willing to tolerate a slightly higher PE from a company that has a strong track record of earnings growth. But, not nose-bleed high PE's. I throw those in the bucket of "dot-com crazy". The thing is, there are enough high-quality companies that are fairly priced based on real revenues and predictable revenue growth.
Now, you coders out there - I admit, these folks know **** I don't!! They may be far better at assessing Palantir than I am. I just stick to what I know.
