No Rich. It's stunning that you are so ignorant about liberals.RichClem » 13 Oct 2014 10:26 am » wrote: Absolutely true.
Today's "liberals" are yesterday's Radical Leftists/ Socialists.
Stunning that they don't know that about themselves.
Nixon was actually one of our best presidents, until he lied about his own men breaking into Watergate.RichClem » 13 Oct 2014 8:57 am » wrote: Ignoring the fact that Nixon governed as a liberal, especially on economic policy.![]()
Which is why he was a failure on domestic policy and why public sentiment allowed Dems to unethically drive him from office.
Oh, he'll be back in November, trust me.![]()
Other than the minor fact that Nixon was horrendous on the economy and the expansion of government.TotallyRad » 13 Oct 2014 11:26 am » wrote:Nixon was actually one of our best presidents, until he lied about his own men breaking into Watergate.
He got us out of Vietnam and established diplomatic relations with China. Practically every president that followed him admitted seeking his counsel on various items.RichClem » 13 Oct 2014 11:29 am » wrote: Other than the minor fact that Nixon was horrendous on the economy and the expansion of government.
Yes, on foreign policy he was quite good.TotallyRad » 13 Oct 2014 11:35 am » wrote: He got us out of Vietnam and established diplomatic relations with China. Practically every president that followed him admitted seeking his counsel on various items.
Leaving Vietnam was a major accomplishment. He did what other presidents couldn't do. What exactly did he do that damaged the economy?RichClem » 13 Oct 2014 11:36 am » wrote: Yes, on foreign policy he was quite good.
I was referring to his disastrous domestic policies.
Uh, "leaving Vietnam" was only an achievement if we saved South Vietnam, but it was liberal Dems who abandoned them, resulting in the deaths of perhaps a million people.TotallyRad » 13 Oct 2014 11:38 am » wrote: Leaving Vietnam was a major accomplishment. He started the horrendous war on drugs, which imo is more costly over time than Vietnam.TotallyRad » 13 Oct 2014 11:26 am » wrote:

That was the problem. We weren't saving South Vietnam, We were feeding the conflict with the lives of our own men. Nixon was the one that said enough. This is why we shouldn't never invaded Iraq because it has become another Vietnam.RichClem » 13 Oct 2014 11:45 am » wrote: Uh, "leaving Vietnam" was only an achievement if we saved South Vietnam, but it was liberal Dems who abandoned them, resulting in the deaths of perhaps a million people.
On the economy, Nixon began by dealing with the mess LBJ left behind by taking us off the gold standard, then following inevitable disastrous policies like wage-price controls, etc.
Allowing huge new bureaucracies to be started like the EPA.
And much else.
He governed like a liberal, which is why he was such a disaster.
Sorry, I don't have time to explain my version.TotallyRad » 13 Oct 2014 11:51 am » wrote:That was the problem. Conservatives are a bit too fascist on social issues to be the same as true liberals.bigsky » 13 Oct 2014 9:34 am » wrote:The definition of lliberal is quite simple...live free, and mind your own business. Of course we were trying to save South Vietnam, as well the rest of Asia and ultimately the West.TotallyRad » 13 Oct 2014 11:51 am » wrote: That was the problem. I'm not sure what color the sky is in your alternate universe.
Look, when liberals abide by their Big Government philosophy as they clearly have under Obama, spending goes up, restrained by Repubs, if they abide by their small government principles.Cedarswamp » 13 Oct 2014 2:41 pm » wrote: I'm not sure what color the sky is in your alternate universe.
