Before it was called Communism, it was called collectivism.  Long before the Russian Revolution forcefully installed Communism across much of Europe, the Colonial experiment of collectivism failed, and failed miserably.

Low-energy colonialist and harsh leaders quickly exposed the flaws of social collectivism. Hard workers had to more than make up for  those not "pulling their weight".  This caused anger and irreconcilable strife among its inhabitants. Jamestown and Plymouth fell into starvation and disease due to lack of personal responsibility.  The tight, dictatorial controls of those in charge drove settlers away, further exacerbating the problem.  It wasn't until "rugged individualists" learned to embrace personal responsibility and free commerce that colonies became productive and prosperous.

Our Colonial ancestors learned that collectivism kills the hard way.  Russia and other European countries learned that collectivism fails miserably as well.  Now, this recent crop of Nouveau-Communists - Bernie-Bro Communists and Ocasio-Cortez-Collectivists, need to learn this harsh lesson as well.  But, this time, not through "trial-and-error" or "natural failure".  They just need to have the F-ing crap beat out of 'em when they show up screaming and crying about DOGE and advocating for Sexual Perversion.

Nice post. There are many reasons why collectivism doesn't work. The ones you listed are correct. When one works for their own, then it's an extension of themselves, because they used their own mind and body to attain it. If you take that away from the hands of the person who used themselves to attain it, then you aren't just taking away a "thing." You are violating a person's autonomy in an indirect manner.

Here's another interesting fact.  Hardly any of the American communes from the 1960's and even before that, still exist.  As far as I can tell, only one such commune continues to exist today, The Farm, founded in 1971.

This commune however nearly failed in the 80s.  Pooling everyone's resources was failing miserably.  So, they changed the rules.  Now even though it still has communal property (not much different from a land-condominium), its inhabitants had to begin self-supporting themselves. In other words, they had to figure out ways to make their own money and pay their own expenses.  I would say that's no longer a real commune - and all resource-pooling communes failed.

There is no such thing as Chinese Communism.  Well, it pretended to start out that way, but morphed into a highly capitalist country.  The only difference is that the Chinese Government reigns supreme over all if its capitalist enterprises.  China is one big corporate conglomerate where "the people" are slaves to their CCP corporate-overlords. In fact, I would call the CCP the Chinese Corporate Party, since this is a far more accurate reflection of that style of government.
