Here's what I know as a 100% fact:
1. There is no social security fund - hasn't been one in decades.
2. The Social Security Ponzi-Scam will not last forever.  It WILL come crashing down and be discontinued.  I can't tell you "when", but I can tell you this will happen.
3. Boomers are dying off.  GenX'ers are the lost generation because their numbers are smallest of all the Gen's. Millennials will be in for the fight on this.  They matter because they have the numbers.

Social Security is coming down.  If you stopped thinking with your every-growing, ever-hungry gut for 5 minutes, you'd realize this is the right thing - it needs to go away.

Making changes this drastic should be as slow in the unraveling as they were in the raveling.

I used to think in the same way until I learned my Mom was living below the poverty level WITH social security. I sat in front of a shredder for days going through 30 years of paperwork and financials. There was a period in the early 2000's she was spending down to less than a hundred dollars in the checkbook waiting for the next SS to arrive. That revelation scarred me for life as we could have easily helped financially. I confronted her with that information and with tears in her eyes said she didn't want to be a burden on us.

High income households pay a pretty penny in payroll taxes, even more so if self employed. Suck it up buttercup like the rest of us have.
