Many on Wall Street still expect the S&P 500 to soar in 2025
The following chart shows the year-end S&P 500 target prices set by analysts at 17 Wall Street investment banks and research institutions. It also gives the implied upside and downside versus the current level of 5,633. The chart is by no means comprehensive, but it does indicate that many analysts expect the U.S. stock market to rebound in the remaining months of the year.

Treasury yields are on a wild ride. The 10-year had fallen from 4.20% to 4.12% yesterday before ripping higher to 4.23% as the tariff event began. It then collapsed almost 20bp to 4.04% before climbing back to about 4.08% currently. The Dollar moved sharply lower versus the Yen, currently sitting around 146. The Swiss Franc strengthened to its highest level versus the Dollar since November. The Euro jumped to $1.10.

On March 10, China imposed a 15% tariffs on American goods, including agricultural goods. Since February 2025, the Trump administration imposed a total of 54% tariffs on China, with the Chinese Government imposing 82% tariffs on the United States

In addition, Mexico has a value-added tax (IVA) on most sales transactions, including sales of foreign products. The IVA rate is 16 percent for all of Mexico. Basic products, such as food and drugs, and some services, are exempt from the IVA. A special tax on production and services (IEPS) is assessed on the importation of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes and cigars. In 2013, IEPS was expanded to include a tax on soda, high calorie foods, and junk foods. This tax may vary from 25 to 160 percent depending on the product.
