Trump pauses tariff hikes for 90 days against most countries — but raises China rate to 125% over ‘lack of respect’ in escalating trade warBlackvegetable » Yesterday, 7:04 am » wrote: ↑ Grifty has plans to eliminate the federal income tax (which, though he didn't pay it, was a disincentive to losing more of other people's momey), and raise 700 billion through tariffs.
Apparently the EU called his bluff, and proposed some zero-tariff regime.
“We have offered zero-for-zero tariffs for industrial goods as we have successfully done with many other trading partners. Because Europe is always ready for a good deal. So we keep it on the table,” she told a press conference alongside Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The U.S. and EU came close to scrapping industrial tariffs a decade ago in their discussions of the TTIP — the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership — that was ultimately scuppered by Trump in his first term.

With tariffs at 0, there would be no revenue to finance a tax cut.
So how would Grifty finance his tax cuts?
With a tax cut, of course.
Duh.

President Trump announced Wednesday that his heightened “reciprocal” tariff scheme was being paused for 90 days in response to overtures from dozens of countries — but duties on Chinese imports would be ratcheted up to 125% due to a “lack of respect” from Beijing.
“Based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the [US Trade Representative], to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, sending Wall Street soaring.

Basic economics shows the revenue would be at least half as much — and probably less than that

No Questions, Askholio!
Are these your words, Sheilagh?*Huey » 6 minutes ago » wrote: ↑ No Questions, Askholio!
Someday when you take a stand you will know the difference.
Where are you hearing these things?
- Control through narrative manipulation: By repeating your words back at you, they attempt to control the conversation and reframe your statements to suit their narrative, no matter how far-fetched.
- Avoidance of original thought: Narcissists often lack the ability—or willingness—to construct thoughtful arguments, so they rely on others’ words to substitute for critical thinking.
- Projection masked as analysis: They project their own flaws onto others by using your past statements as if they were some kind of confession or proof of weakness, despite context.
- Shaming tactic: Quoting your words out of context is used to publicly embarrass or undermine you, not to engage with your point but to assert dominance.
- Ego preservation: They can’t stand losing, so instead of arguing with substance, they dig through your history like it’s a vault of secret weapons—except the weapons are water balloons.
