I experienced a steep VAT in London..  That could be a mechanism that might be tried.. Import it and collect it later. Is that what a value added tax is?
All the more reason to post the tariff next to the price.  It could spur buy American..   Hmmm, Maybe Bezos was trying to think outside the box...
I might even look at a price and say to myself.. "Maybe I can compete with that on that product"
