If suddenly the entire Human race was infected with a virus that killed off that part of the brain responsible for human empathy, could this possibly elevate our species?  If everyone was a psychopath, its not like anyone would be able to take advantage of another based on their emotions or presence of empathy.  It could be like the entire world walking around with a loaded, cocked-and-locked pistol. So, this would either:

1.  Make us all more polite and respectful to one another so we don't get our heads blown off, or

2.  Everyone will immediately shoot everyone else just because they can.

Or, is there a different scenario?

If the same laws are in place, then I doubt it would matter. Most people don't want to go prison. Though they may want to and enjoy blowing people's heads off, the tradeoff of getting man-handled in prison would be a deterrent.

Laws are for people who care about what happens to other people.  If everyone was a psychopath, the only "law" would be every man for himself. At first, I thought that it could lead to an evolution and elevation of the human species. But, when I think this through to any logical conclusion, it always ends in the Human extinction within a couple of generations. And, even the 2nd generation would be short lived.  I actually believe that @cannonpointer had fairly well thought out input on this.

Laws are for people who care about what happens to other people.  If everyone was a psychopath, the only "law" would be every man for himself. Psychopaths do not hear voices.  They are not delusional.  They generally think just like normal people.  They just don't see a lick of difference between any so-called "living" person and a plastic pawn from a China-made chess set. They see people as things that can be played with, purchased, used, discarded, dismantled and buried in a swamp if they start to stink.
 
 
 

Typecasting everyone and stereotyping anyone not accepting their social narrative. I get the bigger picture how people of character play 6 degrees of deception about being self evidently alive in series parallel beating hearts in the atmosphere now 7 days a week 52 weeks a year, regardless the year has 365 or 366 days after birth cannot figure out their specific origin at being alive proportionately here as an equal part of life proportionately here.
