The TVA saved many thousands of lives from catastrophic flooding, and it provides power to ten million customers in the south east - and has done so for four generations. The hoover dam powers Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Tucson (and outlying areas). The bay bridge - which, like the TVA and the Hoover dam has paid for itself many times over - is crossed 100 million times annually, generating a quarter billion in revenues. The Triborough Bridge (Now RFK Bridge) generates 3/4 of a billion annually. Then there are a couple of million MORE familes getting power from the Grand Coulee dam - which, AGAIN, has paid for itself every generation since it was built. And its building provided good jobs for the parents of America's hungry children, buying them shoes and food and a roof over their heads and maybe even a bicycle or two. The Lincoln Tunned and La Guardia Airport are a couple of more infrastructural projects that keep paying for themselves every generation.

These are just the biggest and most famous projects that FDR built for this country to pull us out of the Great Depression. There were so many hospitals and schools and roads and parks and reservooirs and public utilites that they could fill a book. 

An untravelled and unschooled midwit would not be aware of this, but virtually every country on earth - including first world countries - has towns that are not on the grid. These towns have to run generators in closed-loop systems, and folks have to pay through the nose. In the US, rural electrification made our grid the envy of the world - unique among the hundreds of countries that currently exist. 

I know that your ideology is far stronger than all of the evidence. No doubt you think engaging in the uber-socialism of war, where we build EVERYTHING at public expense and then instead of leaving it as an ancestral pile for the next generation, we just blow it the **** up, is what got us out of the great depression.
