Because Russia has worked extremely hard to avoid civilian casualties. Putin is a very different person than Netanyahu. 

But Russia can no longer afford to let NATO continue attacking from behind the Coupkraine sok puppet. Russia has always had the power to erase Kyiv. The recent NATO bombings deep inside Russia will impel him to stop playing footsy with Kyiv and just end it.

That's my prediction.

The peace talks happen tommorow. I don't think there will bemuch talking. Russia's envoy will lay down a list of conditions that Kyiv must meet immediately, or face destruction. Kyiv - ever the NATO puppet - will stupidly walk out in refusal. The next day, Kyiv will no longer be a seat of government. Coupkraine will not have a seat of government. 

 
 

I took the time to look for historic significance with July 3 and there is none for either Russia or Ukraine.
I thought maybe July 3 was LGBTQ Appreciation Day in Ukraine.
I think it would be nice if Putin gives Ukraine advanced notice before turning Kyiv into an ashtray.
I asked myself how many years it would take for the citizens of Ukraine to put this **** behind them...?
How many years did it take the citizens of the USA to be willing to die for England after the wars we fought against them...?

I edited my OP to reflectmy actual intention. I'm talking day after tomorrow.

The significance of June 3 is that it follows Jun2. The signifcance of June 2 is that it is the meeting date for peace talks.

After the incident of NATO destroying Russian bombers using Coupkraine as a sok puppet, there will be no peace talk. There will be a listof conditions and a demand of immediate capitulation or face all out war. Coupkraine will echo what NATO told them to say, and the next day Kyiv will go up in flames.

I have to agree that a major strike as payback will occur.
That could mean multiple targets rather than the obliteration of a single city.

If that (major strike) doesn't happen it will be only because Uke capitulates to Russia's demands coupled with warnings/predictions.

How the Uke strikes made any sense in the planning stage is puzzling.

They made excellent sense - but they werenot uke strikes. They were NATO strike. Which is why Putin is left without wiggleroom. He HAS to take NATO's mask off - and coupkraine is NATO's mask. 

The strikes cut Russia's strategic bomber fleet damned near in half. If you're NATO, and you're poking the bear, taking some inches off its claws is a good move. 

And yes, the strikes will very likely transcend the obliteration of Coupkraine's seat of government. But it's the obliteration of the government in Kyiv that I am predicting. I think the other strikes pretty are much an absolute certainty.

He's been careful to avoid collateral damage. But when you lose half your bomber fleet to force that hides behind a sok, you're gonna get rid of that **** sok as fast as you can, before that hidden force can do more damage behind it. He is going to force NATO to put up or shutup. And when he does, I suspect the NATO alliance is going to lose some members whose citizens start killing their overlords.

I am willing to bet China will successfully invade Taiwan by a week from today,  Monday June 2, 2024.

The odd part of this whole thing is "Why are we still enemies with Russia?"
On one hand, NATO has at its core the mission to counteract Russian aggression. Supposedly.
On the other hand, I'm having trouble seeing the "Russian aggression" these days.

So, I tend to lean in your camp that it's NATO aggression rather than Russian.
They are, as an organization, trying to justify their existence... I guess.

Is that why, in part at least, there's always a fight someplace? We're always eager to practice our craft.
