Let's say Mommy (the government) gives you a bag of lemons, cups, and a pound of sugar to (understandably) get your dumb *** out of the house for a few hours, and gives them to you at no charge.  You have set up your lemonade stand and earn $1 a cup, and you sell 10 cups and make $10, a 100% profit on that first day.  The second day, Mommy tells you you need to pay HER  50% (income tax) of your earnings to cover the cost of those same supplies she gave you for free the day before.  Now your profit DROPPED by 50% if you kept the same price of $1 to your customers, so you only made $5 in profit DUE TO THAT NEW TAX. The next day, Mommy tells you that the supplies you're using cost MORE than $5, so she'll need you to pay a new rate of 75% of your profit.  And since you wouldn't be happy earning only $2.50 for your day's work, YOU WOULD RAISE THE PRICE OF YOUR PRODUCT to earn a profit that will make it worthwhile for you.  And if you learn that people are unwilling to pay for your lemonade at $1.50 or $2 a cup, YOU GIVE UP THE BUSINESS!

That's an experience any 6 year old would have learned quickly and at an early age.
The question is, why did a dunce like YOU fail to learn that lesson, but fail to even understand it?
And the answer is simple!  YOU'RE A **** ECONOMIC MORON!

For example, some big ticket items are what companies call "loss leaders".
A company has to play that game of balancing a customer base (what people are willing to pay) versus a profit (any amount will do as long as the number isn't red). Like car companies...

Why wouldn't Chipotle do basically the same thing?
IOW not kill the customer base as long as the overall numbers work.

In the real world, Chipotle ABSORBS 25-40% of enflaYshUN, which you conjobs agree is a (universal) tax - mainly on consumption. 

In the real world Chipotle decides to abide lower net profit (incl the tax expense) because nobody wants to pay $16 for a chicken burrito. No business owner who owns a successful business is going to close shop b/c of this reduction.

Whether it's quasi-capitalism or quasi-socialism it really does boil down to:
"What the market will bear."
Either system can eventually break itself.

So, taxing to living **** out of someone/corporation will have consequences
depending on the (for lack of a better term) return on investment.

If I see that onerous tax bill come in each year and still have potholes in the road, a non-potable water supply, unenforced laws, **** schools, etc., I will wonder who has my **** money. Where's it going?
I'm not a corporation so my judgement on that side is murky as hell. If my corporation sees that onerous tax bill come in each year, what do they as a business expect to see in return?

Chipotle is having quite the run since Covid. Even more amazing they are posting these numbers after eating a good portion of inflation (if they are). 

2024: Net income was approximately $1.23 billion. 
2023: Annual operating income was $1.558B, a 34.25% increase from 2022. 
2022: Annual operating income was $1.16B, a 44.16% increase from 2021.
 2025 (Q1): The 12-month operating income ending March 31, 2025, was $1.954B, a 19.78% increase year-over-year. 

Chipotle Mexican Grill annual gross profit for 2024 was $3.018B, a 16.69% increase.
Chipotle Mexican Grill annual gross profit for 2023 was $2.586B, a 25.41% increase from 2022.
Chipotle Mexican Grill annual gross profit for 2022 was $2.062B, a 20.8% increase from 2021.

At this point, raising the corporate tax rate 6-8% is like throwing a glass of water in the ocean.

The CPI combined since 2015 is like 65%, I have seen your 100% on some items, bread being one of those items. I noticed the regular shelf price of a 12 pack of coke the other day, $10.99!

Where it all ends up? I have no idea!

Are you going to deny that Chipotle (and virtually every other restaurant in the US) has raised their prices as a result of Biden's inflation?
What evidence do YOU have that they willingly decided to accept and absorb a lower net profit, when they DID raise their prices?

Entertaining your clumsy, pre-pubescent word problem is a DISTRACTION from the argument, low-brow. 

You think taxing income hurts profits. You are therefore stupid. Taxing income does nothing to profits. It taxes INCOME - which come from profits, and many other sources in many or most cases. 

If a fellow who owns a factory has his income taxes LOWERED, his accountant does not change the bottom line on that factory - the profits remain the same. If he has them RAISED, his accountant does not change the bottom line on that factory. The profits are not affected by tax rates - the INCOME from those profits, and all other sources (trust funds, real estate, investments, etc.) is affected.

When inputs go up, costs go up, and prices almost always go up.That's the only way to stay in business. But when a man's TAXES go up, that is HIS costs going up - not his factory's costs. Not his COMEPETITORS' factories costs. So the market is not affected. He cannot just raise his prices willy nilly, knowing that many of his competitor have decent accountants and tax attorneys who can get their taxes to nothing. If he cannot do the same, he just has to eat it. Because the market will not allow him to raise his prices out of pique. His wrath against the tax man CANNOT effectively become a punishment to consumers. And it is quite stupid to suggest otherwise.
