Its actually bad news. Because, now the Fed has no pressure to lower interest rates. House prices will continue to be out of reach for most Americans under the age of 40.Fuelman » 04 Jun 2025, 8:07 am » wrote: ↑ This is good news:

Us old farts are loving these interest rates.Skans » 04 Jun 2025, 8:09 am » wrote: ↑ Its actually bad news. Because, now the Fed has no pressure to lower interest rates. House prices will continue to be out of reach for most Americans under the age of 40.
You're a sell-out. Out of the Equity markets and into the safe, dull, dead world of CD's and Money Market Accounts.
You will see it differently when you get older.Skans » 04 Jun 2025, 8:25 am » wrote: ↑ You're a sell-out. Out of the Equity markets and into the safe, dull, dead world of CD's and Money Market Accounts.
I BOUGHT A 2.3% 6-MONTHS CD
WE'RE IN THE MONEY, BABY!!!
No. When I get older, much older, I'm going to die and take my Nvidia with me!!!
We quit putting money into Wall Street in Jan 2021. It's been about building up cash since then.Skans » 04 Jun 2025, 8:41 am » wrote: ↑ No. When I get older, much older, I'm going to die and take my Nvidia with me!!!
There is something far more sinister lurking in the background. Japan simply can't afford to buy our bonds anymore.Skans » 04 Jun 2025, 8:09 am » wrote: ↑ Its actually bad news. I trust capitalist companies more than I trust banks and government. Good companies create money and wealth. They have to pay it out to their investors, because "greed" makes them do this. Greed is good, because when the Top Dog wants his money, he has to pay me mine too.Fuelman » 04 Jun 2025, 9:16 am » wrote: ↑ There is something far more sinister lurking in the background. I agree with your sentiment about the markets but there comes a time when enough is enough. We have already exceeded the average retirement account balance for our age group and focused on limiting exposure. Currently our exposure to US Equities is less than 30% of our net worth.Skans » 04 Jun 2025, 9:22 am » wrote: ↑ I trust capitalist companies more than I trust banks and government. On the other hand, Banks pay you a stipend to take your money, plow it into equities, and then skim off the profits for themselves - 7.5% skimmed off for them; 2.5% for you. Basically, people who buy CD's are allowing themselves to get ***-raped without even the courtesy of a Bank-financed reach-around.
When you say "enough is enough", isn't that like giving up? Its not about the reward. Its all about the game! For F-s' sake, what is life without risk?Fuelman » 04 Jun 2025, 10:04 am » wrote: ↑ I agree with your sentiment about the markets but there comes a time when enough is enough. When you need a place to park $300k cash, CD's are not a bad option. I don't mind being dumb, it's paid off!
Is it sitting in a brokerage account?Fuelman » 04 Jun 2025, 8:51 am » wrote: ↑ We quit putting money into Wall Street in Jan 2021. It's been about building up cash since then.
"Enough is enough" IS in the game. It's one of the many positions the game offers.Skans » 04 Jun 2025, 10:20 am » wrote: ↑ When you say "enough is enough", isn't that like giving up? Its not about the reward. Its all about the game! For F-s' sake, what is life without risk?
That's like leaving the table, cashing in your chips and walking back outside as dawn turns to daylight again. You just won a ton of money, and the fools you won it from are all still sitting around the table willing to throw more at you!Cannonpointer » 04 Jun 2025, 10:25 am » wrote: ↑ "Enough is enough" IS in the game. The retirement accounts are at Ed Jones sitting in a medium risk portfolio.

What if you live to 115? Then what are you going to do? I'm pretty certain I'm going to live to at least 114. @Cannonpointer will confirm this, since the Vaxx I took was the life-prolonging one - gave me super powers too; not the artery-clogging goo that Moderna tried to pawn off on Cannonpointer.Fuelman » 04 Jun 2025, 9:16 am » wrote: ↑ There is something far more sinister lurking in the background. Now, that's just a "stupid risk". Who T-F told you to do something like that? There are people like BV out there that will brake-check you on the down-hill just for **** and giggles.Fuelman » 04 Jun 2025, 2:46 pm » wrote: ↑I survived a decade of driving over a mountain pass with 11,000 gallons of gas strapped to my ***. I'll be checking out long before that, the sole purpose currently is to make sure the wifey is financially secure.
