We lived in South tx close to the Gulf and there were numerous shrimp boats that fished the Gulf. When I was 16 I got a job on one as a baiter. The captain said I learned so fast and did so well he promoted me to master baiter.

I worked in a local sporting goods store.

Started at Sandy's drive-in at 13 then on to full service filling stations when I became of legal age...

Actually I worked in a restaurant as a busboy and later on, the same thing at a country club.

I had a lot of jobs. My first real job was McDonald's. I was a grill man. In those days you could get a job anyplace if you were fast and accurate. I worked in a bunch of different stores for a couple of different owners in two different states. It was a lot of fun.

I also had a couple of different factory jobs, drove an ice cream truck, sold Fuller Brush door to door, worked in a tropical fish warehouse, did landscaping, worked as a lab tech building electric vehicles and prototype batteries and I worked in horse stable which eventually led to my first "career" which was as a farrier.

I enjoyed working in the sporting good store.  So much so that I crapped up a great high school GPA with some really **** senior grades. Dad told me not to F- around and keep my grades up; that there will be plenty of time to "work" later.  He was right, but it was a good experience. 

How did you like working in a country club?
