People often say that this is because of higher conviction rates of black people due to systemic racism. However, in victimization surveys, where the victim can identify the race of the offender, black offenders are still disproportionally higher.

Additionally, poor white communities don’t commit crime at the same rate as poor black communities, and black people are more violent than white people in every county in the world where stats are kept.
