Is that 1/8 or 1/4 mile?

I haven't kept track of professional drag racing in recent years .so I don't know.
I  think  1000 feet has replaced  the 1/4 mile in some of the faster categories.

The Top Fuelers and Funny Cars  got too fast..the races became unwatchable...for me. 
It's great to experience the sound pressure waves blasting through you body as a spectator, the smells, the intensity....but after a few runs I've seen enough of the cars going down the track.
The real entertainment for me is just walking through the pits to see the amazing engineering, craftsmanship and beauty up close.

LOL..  I have operated CO2 enhanced green houses.  Ya Need alarms to make sure you don't suffocate.   We use CO2 R744 Refrigerant and have to have leak detection and alarms for SOL (aka Safety of Life).   It has killled workers in the past.

And humans only add 1% as much CO2 to the atmosphere per year as already in it. If such a miniscule amount were as critical as propagandists claim, all life would have been destroyed long ago. Nature hasn't been sitting on a 1% knife edge for millions of years.

Back in college, a buddy and I went to B.I.R. in MN. At that time, they were producing 1800 hp...it was exhilarating to say the least...the ground rumbling, unburnt fuel smells as it sprayed out of the pipes at idle...and the shear acceleration...it was cloud nine...

National speed records have been set there...they were coming in around 290-300 breaking 4 second barrier (if my memory is correct)

now it's 7000 hp @337mph...freaking ridiculous...lol

By the way - to my knowledge, I was the first *** on the interwebs to identify that the earth's atmosphere is currently dangerously low on C02. I made this argument years ago.

It's evolved into something that's only watchable on TV with slow motion replays. 
I guess the NHRA knows what they're doing with TV advertisers paying the bills instead of relying on fans buying tickets to fill the seats.
I don't see how electric motor  powered cars could  ever generate as much spectator  interest. 
Maybe fun to drive but not so thrilling to watch.

Every 6.8 lbs, 1 US Gallon of gasoline combusted yields 20 lbs of CO2. Let's assume that number for all liquid hydrocarbons are about the same.. Feel free to look up ethanol for comparison.

Number of gallons of liquid hydrocarbons combusted on the planet per year?
