The states are now on the hook for 5% of SNAP benefits. Looks like the states need to do a better job reducing their poverty rates and budget accordingly.

Percentage of residents receiving food stamps:
New Mexico: 19.48%
Louisiana: 18.58%
Oregon: 17.67%
Oklahoma: 16.73%
Nevada: 15.72%
Nevada: 15.72%
West Virginia: 15.54%
Illinois: 15.32%
Pennsylvania: 15.31%
Michigan: 14.98%
New York: 14.80%
Alabama: 14.62%
California: 13.69%
Mississippi: 13.24%
Kentucky: 12.98%

Nevada: 15.72%

 

This surprises me. I thought my state was much higher.

I had no idea the percentages were so high.

California, New York and Washington damn near make up 25% of all SNAP benefits.

States can cut the fluff out of their budgets and easily come up with the 5%!

I do consider that if folks have to do more with less that necessity is a mother of invention and cutting the funding will  other means will have to develop.

Hell, it looks like we better hire some meteorologists..

Bro in law currently  brings in 400$ a month for the family food bill.  His puddings and Ensures are not cheap.

If he loses the benefit I won't  watch him starve like Netanyahu  gawks at Palestinians in Gaza..

Blue States will likely be the beneficiaries of the tax breaks.  Dems are superior  at creating stuff and risking enterprise..

I have no idea what the political demographics are of the 1%..  Sounds like Elon is selling a third party before DOGE eats him or he gets deported to El Slaveador with MS13 on his knuckles

I can tell you red states get more Medicaid. Blue States can afford getting ripped of by the insurance jack ups.. The urban areas actually  have health care, unlike **** red town.

Food stamps, snap, ebt, wick are all welfare ****. You only need one. And just enough food to survive, barely. You should want to get off of it as soon as possible.

Bil is lucky to have you as a family member, family should always be the first ones to step up but not everyone in this situation has family.

My donation this week was $40, $20 to the guy with the "desperate for a cheeseburger" sign and $20 just an hour or so ago to a younger Hispanic woman who didn't want my money but wanted me to feed her.  Sorry honey, this is Ace Hardware, here's $20, there is a Burger King 1/2 mile down the road.
