AOC gave her opinion. She has a right to that. I can call you a ***, and you can call me a republican, and yes - we have both been deeply insulted. But there has been no defamation.
AOC suggested that Trump is a rapist.
Trump is a public figure, so to collect against AOC he would have to prove three things:
1. It's a lie; and
2. She KNOWS it's a lie; and
3. It hurt his reputation.
To prove that third thing, he would have to get past the fact that those who like him hate her and would never take her word, and those who like her ALREADY consider him the devil incarnate. IOW, he would have to sustain the assertion that she has credibility with middle America, and that BECAUSE OF HER UTTERANCE, people who did not think him a rapist now do think him a rapist. That is what he would have to convince a jury of: that she changed hearts and minds about Trump.
To prove that second thing, he would have to convince a jury that there is no evidence whatsoever that he is the sort of fellow who might commit a rape, such that AOC could be speaking her truth in good faith. He would have to argue successfully that AOC made this **** up out of whole cloth.
But he has ALREADY sued a major news channel on the theory that they convinced dummies that he was a rapist. And he is on record calling AOC a dummy. So the fault - by Trump's own legal filings - lies with ABC and Stephanopolopolopolis.
If AOC says, "I believe what I said, I stand by what I said, and here is why..." and then she shows that more than 20 women have accused him of rape over the years and he has admitted grabbing women he does not even know by the ****** and tongue-kissing them without permission, it's not very likely that a jury is going to come back and say, "She just made that **** up, out of malice, with zero evidence to back the opinion." This is especially true if Trump performs up to his usual standard in Discovery - which is de rigueur in tort trials. He WILL have to sit for discovery.
As I said: The **** is going to keep on saying what she wants about Trump, and Trump is going to walk it off and give Coach 110% next time.

What a private person can be justified for believing about a fellow has nothing to do with what a jury was able to get agreement on For all we know, they were one person short of adding rape to the conviction.
